Dyeus Interruptus: The Fibre Studio has gone into partial hibernation for the month of December (no new yarn dyeing orders) as we fulfill existing orders, sell current inventory, restock supplies, update our website, and plan family holiday time. We will pick back up after the new year. Our retail space will still be open during regular business hours in December through the 22nd. We will be back at in full steam ahead on January 3.
Our Nantahala color way was dyed with the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (2017) in Fletcher, NC in mind. This fiber festival takes place at the end of October and is in a particularly beautiful and colorful part of the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.
Nantahala (our color namesake) is Cherokee for "Land of the Noonday Sun." The Nantahala National Forest is also located in the Smokies. This area has richly-hued autumn foliage with crystal bright waters, which feed into Fontana Lake. For you Game of Thrones lovers, this color way IS "the song of fire and ice."
For those of you looking for a new project, we love Laura Aylor's new shawl pattern called Touchstone, which is currently afree download on Ravelry here.
Fifty Shades of Gradient™ is a 2-ply yarn, fluffy and springy in the hand. It is available in tonal or contrasting ombre color ways and takes dyes beautifully. We use our SW Merino – Fingering yarn for our gradients allowing us to produce complementary tonals, variegated, and freckled yarns to enhance our gradient projects.
Please Note: The Fibre Studio custom dyes most of our yarns just for you. This process may take from 2-4 weeks before the yarn ships.
