Hey Sailor is another sweater pattern created by Andrea Mowry. Pattern may be purchased here on Ravelry.
It is knit using fingering weight yarn, on US #1 & #3 needles. Our Studio Sample was knit using our Cotton Bamboo Fingering for the MC and Walkabout for the CC. Our Studio Sox or Studio Smitten yarn would also be perfect for this project. The Cotton Bamboo Fingering yarn will be in the natural color only. Because of the cotton content, it gives the sweater a little firmer body.
Hey Sailor is a cropped cardigan, may be worn buttoned in the back, or front.
Please purchase and print the pattern prior to the first class.
These sweaters are knit from the bottom up.
In this class you will learn:
- Bottom up knitting.
- Mosaic Knitting.
- 3-needle bindoff.
Four sessions: Saturday, May 9, 16, 30 and June 6, 2026
Time: 2:00-4:00
Please note: Please purchase supplies and yarn prior to the first class. Students who would like custom dyed yarn for this project, please visit the shop at least a week prior to the first class to give our dyers time to dye and dry your custom order. Students taking the class receive a 15% discount on all class supplies/yarn.

Homework:
Please make a guage swatch, blocked and dried prior to the first class. Gauge is important...by getting the right gauge and needle size you're garment will fit your size selected.
